Learnr is an e-learning platform that provides high school students with easy access to courses and materials to boost learning process. It should be noted that this project was accompanied by a six month product design training at motionwares digital solution (MDS) and the idea was due to the outbreak of Covid-19. I spent a large amount of my time working closely with a developer to build this project.

Challenge

80% of secondary school students attend federal and government school. Due to the pandemic schools have been shut for more than six months. Many students are feeling perplexed on the next step to take as their schools are unable to create an effective e-learning platform for them to utilize. The existing e-learning platforms are not mostly foreign and are not designed to fit the country's universal basic education curriculum.

The Process

I conducted remote interviews with some parents and students to have a better understanding of my target audience. From the result, I was able to come with some key findings

  • Both parents and students wants to be able to track learning progress.
  • Students want to have a feel of the course before deciding if registering is the best option.
  • Some students wants a quiz feature to put knowledge to test as well as view performance grade.
  • Students need to be rewarded to stay motivated.

The Result

Below is a live prototype video of the end result and some few takeaways for this project are:

  • Focus on the features that can deliver the highest value for users first.
  • Focus on the users first as it is easy to lose sight.
  • Finally, testing with the right target audience gave me crucial insights.
